Change In Standpoint on Women
Nursing had changed from a profession that was highly looked down upon to a very respectable one and this was especially true in terms of women in the profession of nursing and how, because of their work during the Civil War, they grew to be a treasured part of the profession
- The hospitals that started to spring up in major cities after the war were dominated by female staff
- Nursing schools that were made after the Civil War were thought to only train female pupils
- According to statistics about 94% of all nurses today are women
- Dr. Marie Zakrewska created a nursing school that was for all women and was connected to the New England Hospital for Women and Children.
